I recently posted a review of Let Me Tell You What I Mean. In that review I’d stated that I planned to purchase The Saturday Evening Post magazine. I have subscribed to the paper copy and digital version. I’m currently reading through the back issues of 1968. Joan Didion and John Gregory Dunne had a regular spot in the magazine. It was called “Points West.” Joan wrote an essay one month and the next month John wrote an essay and so forth.
If you’d rather go the route of subscribing to this magazine in order to read her essays, I paid $17.00. I have the ability to read online every magazine that The Saturday Evening Post published!
You can also purchase her books which hold the essays. But the majority of the essays appeared first in The Saturday Evening Post. I am keeping a list of her articles and when it appeared in the magazine. A few are in the book, Let Me Tell You What I Mean.
I love the ability to look back at the vintage magazines and read her articles, John’s articles and other writers. I also love looking at old ads. I love reading about the history and culture of that particular era.
And in addition. I may have mentioned this before, but I have a diagnosis of cluster headaches and chronic migraines with and without aura. I have a very sensitive left eye to bright light which includes the light on a computer screen or cell phone. Light (and stormy weather) is a trigger for migraines. I am no longer able to work on and post multiple reviews in a week as in times past. My goal is at least once a week I will post reviews. Thank you for understanding.
